I am wanting ideas for DIY things I can make for my wedding. I am trying to keep my costs down as much as I can, but still have all the things I want. My friend Katie has gotten me addicted to all things Michael's and Martha Stewart. LOL!
I absolutely love the style of this invitation but I would make my own. Look at the prices! EEK!
I'll post more when I get back. Matthew just got home and we're meeting his friend for lunch. LATER!

Invites are easy to do yourself. I did mine. Just buy a kit from Walmart, Target, or any craft store, stick em in the printer and go! And you can add bows if you want for a little extra spiffiness, but beware...that is a tedious task! I did lots of things myself. Favors are an easy DIY. Centerpieces...catch Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or Joann's with a sale and you can get cheap, really nice centerpieces. A nice vase with a pillar candle in it (get the candles from the dollar store or dollar tree!) and there you are! Silk flowers all the way! I had silk and no one knew the difference...I got so many complements on my flowers! We got them on clearance at Michaels and they will even make the bouquets for you. Plus, you don't have to worry if anyone has allergies :-) And the food. Get the wedding party and family and friends to pitch in and bring some food. We did simple things...a fruit tray, veggie tray, meat tray. All in all I think we spent $200 for food and had TONS left over. The only thing I wasn't brave enough to make myself was the cake. I don't reccomend that :P Katie is very crafty. I'm sure she can give you some fantastic ideas!
ReplyDeleteI just sent you an email on this very subject! Kelly is right, invites can be really tedious. But once I got all mine printed (which for me was the worst part of all of wedding planning) the rest was simple. Have an invitation assembling party. I offered to make dinner for like 10 or 12 people and then they put all mine together in less than an hour. I highly recommend you do that! :)
ReplyDeleteKatie, that's what I was thinking about doing for putting the invites together. Hehe.
ReplyDeleteKelly, great idea for the flower bouquets! I didn't know Michael's would put them together for you!! I've always wanted silk though. My mom used silk and still has her 26 years later. Last year for their 25th anniversary, they did I vow renewal and we took her flowers to surprise her.
As for the food, I still haven't found a place to do the reception, so I don't know if I will be able to bring in food or not. But I'm trying to find a place that will let me. I'll keep you updated though. Thanks for the ideas!!!
